ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Cedar Summerstock Theater was founded in 2016 to provide outstanding performing arts and technical theater students an intensive experience to develop their skills, connect with industry professionals, and engage the regional communities in the arts. A season of four musicals and community events, are presented June-August. Modeled after similar programs on the east coast, Cedar Summerstock is the only Upper Midwest regional summer theater to draw its cast and crew from college programs across the country.
Mitchell County, the home of Cedar Summerstock Theater, is located in north central Iowa, within an hour drive from Albert Lea, Austin, and Rochester, Minnesota, as well as Mason City, Clear Lake, Charles City, Cedar Falls/Waterloo, and Decorah, Iowa. Productions are performed in the state-of-the-art auditorium at the Cedar River Complex in the Krapek Family Fine Arts Center in Osage, Iowa. Rehearsals and production facilities are housed in South Square, a historic elementary school building in neighboring St. Ansgar, Iowa.
